This is fantastic optical illusion! When you turn the ring one way, it seems to be getting fatter; if you turn it the other way, it seems to be getting thinner! The illusion is utterly convincing, and really quite unexpected. We think it is something to do with the way the holes in the ring change their size as you rotate the ring. But however it works, it works really well.
