This is the extra large (XL) version of the Tippe Top. Whereas our normal Tippe Top is 35mm high, this one is 50mm high! (One of the images shows the XL version next to the normal Tippe Top). A Tippe Top consists of a slightly flattened sphere, with a metal stem. It looks slightly like a small mushroom. If you spin the top, it starts to slide and tip over. If you spin it fast enough, it will turn completely upside down, spinning on its stem. This strange piece of physics was discovered by the German physicist Helen Sperle in 1891. There are very cheap versions around, made of plastic, but this designer version is made of aluminium, and comes in an elegant foam surround with a cardboard sleeve. The top is about 50mm high, and the designer and maker of the top is - appropriately enough - German.

Shipping

We aim to ship orders within 48 hours. 
For UK deliveries, we use DHL Parcel (UK) and EVRI. 
For deliveries to Europe we offer a choice of DPD or DHL.
For deliveries outside Europe, we ship by DHL.

Our warehouse works Monday to Friday only. If we receive your order by 10am then we aim to ship the same day or the next day, depending on how busy the warehouse is. On the day your order ships, the warehouse will send you your tracking number by e-mail at 7pm UK time. The delivery time to reach you will depend on the shipping option you have chosen. 
Returns

We will accept items that you wish to return, within 30 days of placing the order. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the item back to us, and it must be in saleable condition. We will refund you the cost of the item. Please let us know if you wish to return an item before you send it. 

If the item is faulty, please let us know, and we will ship a replacement or refund your money, as you wish.

This item does not spin. I had ordered the smaller version and it spun beautifully.

OK, but cheaper in Germany, and no extra taxes nor extra VAT.

Yes, we buy this item from a man in Germany. So yes, if you are in the EU, it will be cheaper if you buy direct in this particular case. We have to pay tax to import this item from Germany, so the whole Brexit thing is a disaster. I didn't vote for it, but it is not in my control. For reasons that will be obvious to you, we get fewer customers from the EU since Brexit. But I am still proud to source items from the EU, and offer them in the Grand Illusions shop. I currently have two resolutions - 1) try to buy as little as possible from China (difficult I know) and 2) buy nothing via Amazon.
